We had the most beautiful mini-moon in wine country last March and I just had to share some of our favorite wineries we visited. While preparing for our trip I learned that between Sonoma and Napa there are almost 1,000 wineries. ONE THOUSAND and about 750 of those wineries are open for tastings. Like what!? So of course you would have to visit wine country many times to even scratch the surface. We personally visited 15 wineries between Napa and Sonoma and we thought that was a lot! 😂 We had the most amazing time visiting Sonoma and although I am going to write a list of our favorites and a day itinerary for Sonoma as well, Scribe Winery was so cute it deserved its own post!
The entire experience here was such a dream. We pulled in and saw the perfectly manicured landscaping, the gorgeous exterior, and even the driveway was lined with palm trees.
The Story of Scribe Winery
Founded in 2007, Scribe Winery is located on a property that pioneered pre-prohibition Sonoma Valley winemaking. It is managed by fourth-generation California farmers and brothers, Andrew and Adam Mariani. “Andrew and Adam believe that the best wines are a result of a healthy relationship between man and nature and that a vineyard managed in harmony with the greater ecosystem results in more site-specific wines that represent a sense of time and place. When vinified with non-interventionist methods, the result is a distinct wine that faithfully reflects what the vineyard naturally expresses.” How cool is that!?
What I love even more about this brotherly duo is every time we mentioned to another industry owner or employee that we were going to Scribe, they’d respond, “Great choice, the Mariani brothers are awesome and they make incredible wine.” Well, we couldn’t agree more! The experience they provide is nothing short of amazing.
I mean come on, the outdoor patio of everyone’s dreams….
The Tasting Room at Scribe Winery
Before you start your tasting I recommend using the bathroom and walking around the beautiful building. As soon as you walk in you’re completely blown away by the attention to detail and it just keeps getting better. I guess I should have known I was going to be obsessed when I walked in and this was how cute the bathroom was!
As I walked around I noticed there are many places you can enjoy your tasting. We personally sat outside for our tasting and lunch but there are so many options.
This all depends on the size of your group and what Scribe is offering that day. If you want to know more detail about your tasting location just ask about options when making your reservation. We made our reservation about a month in advance. That was plenty for us but if you are visiting during busy season call earlier. Click the link for more information about visiting and offerings.
Before we were served our lunch we got to see how dang cute the kitchen was and I just knew our food was going to be amazing. I mean LOOK AT IT!
Talk about Instagram worthy…I had to force myself to go join my husband because I could have walked around for hours.
Lunch and Tasting at Scribe
We were so grateful for the most beautiful sunny day when visiting Scribe. With the weather cooperating we had a private outdoor table that was so comfy and cute. They bring you their current tasting menu and do such a great job answering questions and describing the tasting notes of each wine. The service was incredible.
Can you tell by our eyes and purple lips we weren’t on our first tasting of the day….
We enjoyed everything we tasted at Scribe. It’s pointless to tell you what year the wines we bought were because I already checked and they are sold out of all three and for good reason. But I will tell you it was a Syrah, a Pinot Noir, and a Rose. SO yum! Click the link to see what current wines they have.
I recommend visiting Scribe around lunchtime because we had the best little salad and charcuterie! It was perfect as a light lunch before we made our way back to Napa. I have also heard they do awesome brunch and dinner pairings so I make sure you ask about their offerings while making reservations.
Writing this post makes me want to call Scribe and set up another reservation immediately! They seriously offer the perfect hour and a half tasting. We simply had the best time here.
Thanks so much for reading along! As you can tell, we are pretty obsessed with Scribe and couldn’t recommend it more! When you visit Sonoma this would be my absolute first recommendation for tasting.
