About the Bangkok Photography Tour
This blog post is going to be very photo focused for a few reasons. 1. The obvious, it was a Bangkok photography tour so I am going to let the photos do the talking. 2. People just like to scroll anyway 3. Mike and his business partner are still in the first year of their business and are still scouting new places for their Bangkok photography tour! This means by the time you do this tour they may have a few to choose from and it’s not guaranteed you will go to all of these places if you book with them! So what I recommend is going through this blog and if you see a place you really like, you can let them know ahead of time and they will try and plan your day accordingly!
When I first found this tour on Airbnb Experiences I have to be honest, I was a bit hesitant. Thailand is SO cheap so seeing a tour that was over $100 was shocking to me until I did some research. These are professional photographers guiding you around the city for 5 hours, taking you to lunch, buying you snacks and you’ll even have transportation covered when you aren’t walking. If you were to book something like this in the states it’d be at least ten times the price. So I booked it and I couldn’t be happier that I did! Your Bangkok Photography Tour Guide
I had Mike for my tour guide and I couldn’t recommend him more! He and his friend started this company less than a year ago and they have had great success for good reason. Mikes personality was so welcoming and he made you feel comfortable just chatting which transferred to feeling comfortable in front of the camera. Mike was always snapping candids and telling you when to pose when you passed something cool! After reading all the great reviews, I knew he’d be great but he seriously exceeded all expectations. He made the day SO fun and on top of it took gorgeous pictures!
Bangkok Graffiti
Our first stop of the day was to the graffiti wall just a few minutes from our meeting point. It was really awesome to see all the different artwork and there were even a few artists there doing some work!
Mike would stop you and be like, “Yes! Right there, now strike a pose.” You really have your own private photographer for the day!
Public River Transportation
One of my favorite parts of the day was when we took
Wat Ratchanatdaram
Off to our first temple of the day. Keep in mind you’ll be walking a ton so wear comfortable shoes- this particular day I walked over 15,000 steps! We started our walk to the temple and instantly started sweating since it was 95 degrees out. As I mentioned earlier, Mike is super awesome and accommodating, he saw us sweating and stopped in the 7/11 to get us a cold towel to wipe off our faces off- just in time to look a bit more presentable for all the pictures to come.
This was my favorite temple of the day. I felt so peaceful in this one and the monk inside even smiled and waved me in.
I loved all the interesting doors and artwork throughout this temple. These red doors were so cool and I can imagine how much work it would be to make them, so much detail!
Don’t hesitate to ask for pictures even if it’s not a spot Mike points out. I told him I loved this green wall and would love a photo in front of it and he gladly took a few.
Chat with Locals
Mike told us about a small neighborhood on one of the canals. Here there are houses that have housed 5 generations. He said he was going to take us there because it’s cool to see the old house and that next door there was this sweet woman who watched her grandson every day and they are so fun to talk to! Apparently, they have created quite the relationship and they look forward to new groups during the week. We were lucky they were there and I got a surprise visitor when the Grandma’s husband was pissed he couldn’t find his shaver. This is definitely one of my favorite pictures from Thailand.
And look at this sweet little beeb!
Snacks and Lunch
After chatting with the sweet grandma and beeb Mike took us to the woman whose family owns the old house. She has a cart just down the street selling the famous Cha Yen. I had read about it but hadn’t tried it yet. It is a sweet Thai iced tea made with condensed milk and it is SO sweet but SO yum!
More importantly the woman making it is the sweetest lady and loves meeting the new groups each week!
Off to lunch just a few minutes away. I have no idea what the names of the restaurant was called because it was in Thai but it was
I have no idea what Mike ordered but I know it was amazing pork and the dipping sauce was awesome.
Wat Suthat
After lunch you’ll head to Wat Suthat, another gorgeous temple. I loved the pillars here and the details on the walls and doors.
Wat Ratchabophit
The last temple of the day is Wat Ratchabophit. Mike told us he thinks this is where you can get the most beautiful pictures and as soon as we walked in I knew why!
Drinks and Sunset
We took a few pictures at the last Temple and Mike called us a tuk-tuk to get to the rooftop bar for drinks and sunset.
There are many different rooftop bars in Bangkok but most of them are super crowded and overpriced. Mike and his business partner found the perfect low key rooftop bar with a stunning sunset view, great drinks
Once the sun goes down they light up Wat Arun and it’s so beautiful!
We hung out and chatted here for a bit until I had to head off to my spa treatment which I will definitely be writing about soon! Mike was kind enough to call me a “Grab” (Uber) and we said our goodbyes! I can’t say this enough, this was one of my favorite tours I did in Thailand!
A few more things about the tour before you book.
-They prefer 3 people per guide so the groups are kept very small, if you have a larger group you’ll have to reach out and see if they can accommodate it that day!
-You’ll get between 40-60 edited images from the day and then they’ll perfectly edit your favorite ten. I loved mine without any editing so I didn’t even send any back, they were beautiful as is!
-It was 90+ degrees all day so wear light and breathable clothing and maybe even bring a towel to wipe off your face!
-I was backpacking so I only had one outfit I wanted for pictures but you are welcome to bring outfit changes and they actually encourage it! They will go through your outfits with you before and tell you what the backdrops will be and when you should change into the next.
